Empowering Young Ladies To Rise Above Their Circumstances

MISSION STATEMENT:

To allow young ladies to open up, and release any anger, pain, frustration, stress, and/or disappointment.  We hope to inspire and encourage young ladies to believe in themselves and their abilities.

Goals:

Our goal is to help young ladies move forward without any medical prescriptions or admittance  into treatment facilities.

The Name:

The name “Changing Faces” was inspired by the look young girls would have on their faces when they pretended to be someone they weren't.  That face showed that they were battling something but were afraid of asking for help.  “Changing Faces” isn’t calling

young ladies out, but it’s a peer group to help them be who they are; Intelligent, Beautiful, and Inspirational.  It’s a place were the young ladies can gather, talk and share life experiences with others with hopes of bonding and getting through the difficult times together.  The most important part is that they can trust and lean on each other.

Our Motto:

“I may be a girl, but I’m a warrior…No Matter the battle I’m fighting, changing the world, changing lives, CHANGING FACES.”

Changing Faces was founded by a senior at RJ Reynold's High School. At the tender age of 17, the young lady wanted to give back.  She had been suicidal for 5 years and although she had been helped medically, she still lacked the support system that she needed. She was abused mentally, physically, and sexually. She came to her mentor, Sergeant Major Maine with the idea of starting Changing Faces. SGM happily teamed with her as Co-founder of Changing Faces and birthed forth this amazing vision. This young lady's heart desire is to help girls her age and younger cope with what they are going through and let them know that they aren't alone. Changing Faces started out with ten young ladies and has grown to almost thirty. Some of the issues these young ladies are battling include suicidal ideations, depression, molestation, rape, and hunger. We meet twice a week and we do monthly outings. We also meet with the parents and have monthly outings with the parents and girls together. Changing Faces has made a tremendous difference in the lives of these young ladies. We are committed to encouraging and doing everything possible to see these young ladies succeed, but we can't do it alone. It takes funding to go on outings and to assist these young ladies and their parents in areas that they may lack in. If you feel led please click the donate button. Your donation is tax-deductible.
